Our ten-week summer Fellowship matches college students from our partner schools with a literary agency to understand the role of literary agents and begin developing the skills needed to succeed in the publishing industry. Fellows enjoy a slate of LAOC-hosted programming that gives them access to networking, mentorship, and education. Participating agencies are members of the Association of American Literary Agents (AALA), and fellows directly receive our $6,000 Fellowship Grant for their participation.
Our mentorship program seeks to improve retention and promotion of rising agents from marginalized groups. The fully-remote program pairs agents currently building their lists with two established mentor-agents for one year. Mentors each commit to monthly, hour-long meetings that focus on their mentee’s specific goals and aspirations. Mentees enjoy community with fellow mentees, LAOC-hosted programming for networking and education and are each able to utilize our $500 Business Development Grant.
